UOB Kay Hian and its foreign broker do not provide nominee services for handling IPO applications.
Clients receive email notification from UOB Kay Hian for corporate actions, except for dividends, AGMs or EGMs. If a client does not respond within the stipulated timeline, the default action is taken.
Instructions on a corporate action can be given to the client's Dealer's Representative.
UOB Kay Hian's request deadline differs from the Registrar's to allow sufficient time to process and compile client instructions before submission to the registrar.
Once instruction has been given to accept an offer such as a tender offer, the shares cannot be sold on the market. The holdings are temporarily removed to prevent a short selling position.
Sufficient funds must be available in the client's trust account to accept corporate exercises such as a rights issue or warrant conversion.
A request will be rejected if there are insufficient funds in the trust account.
Charges in a different currency can be offset using MYR, by liaising with the client's Dealer's Representative upon application.
New shares or cash offers are credited into the account 3–4 business days after the closing date, subject to the Registrar processing the crediting.

Step 1: Log into your UTrade account.
Step 2: Click on “E-documents”.
Step 3: Click on “E-Foreign Statement”.
Note: You are advised to archive your Foreign Shares Statement, as it is only stored on the UTrade platform for a limited period, subject to UOB Kay Hian's management policy.
The process may take 1–2 weeks after submission of the instruction.
The receipt can be found in the UTrade account, under UTrade > E-documents > EDebitCreditNote.
An application to accept an offer may still be rejected by the registrar based on the proration of the offer.
If the Registrar rejects an acceptance such as a rights issue, the fund subscription is refunded. However, the handling charge is non-refundable.
Any difference between the refund amount and the original subscription sum is due to the foreign currency exchange rate applied when settlement charges are quoted in MYR.
ADR charges apply to non-US companies listed on a US exchange.
ADR charges are not fixed; they depend on the counter's declaration to the relevant authorities.
Custodian and safekeeping fees apply to foreign shares other than US, SGX and HKEX shares.
Purchases or inward transfers of tradeable Rights Issues from the market are not automatically opted in for subscription; clients are only informed of the original shareholding as at the ex-date.
The client's Dealer's Representative should be informed immediately for instruction if there is an inward transfer or purchase of Rights Shares from the market after the entitlement date.
